THE HEATHERWOOD HAPPENINGS NEWSLETTER

As of July 2004, the Heatherwood Happenings Newsletter is now back in publication! For those who may miss the Newsletter in their regular mail, it is now being made available via this Web site.

MISSING: ELI THE CAT

Has anyone seen a male, short-haired tabby cat? He’s been missing since at least December 9th – possibly because he was upset by my bringing a new dog to our home. His grey, ocelot-like stripes are very distinctive, and his fur is very soft (or was before he went missing). He is micro-chipped, and a veterinarian can do a quick scan for the chip and call me. Other identifying signs: he loves to drink flowing water from the sink (preferably the one I’m using), not water from a bowl, and he’s become very friendly to other cats outdoors.

Eli (who thinks he’s my “son”) is very dear to me, and if you’ve found him and are taking care of him, please contact me ASAP! There is a reward for his return, but if he's happier with you, I just want to know that he’s OK and to be able to see him.

IS SOMEONE TRAPPING OUR PETS?

Talking to my neighbors, there appears to be a large number of missing cats in our neighborhood. Not elderly cats that could fall victim to predators are missing, but younger and middle aged, vigorous cats. We are wondering if someone could be trapping our treasured pets and dumping them somewhere. Please let me know if you have seen or heard of anything like this before in this area.

SEASONAL AND YEARLY EVENTS

Announcements of seasonal and yearly events in Heatherwood Village (as well as of the yearly Pool Schedule month by month) given on the Calendar page and its associated pages, as well as on the Annual Events page. Updates will be made from time to time as information is made available to the Webmaster.

WHY DID YOU MOVE TO HEATHERWOOD?

Take a few minutes to remember what attracted you to Heatherwood in the first place. Was it the well-kept homes, the nicely-manicured yards or the number of adults and children out in the community? It was probably all of these reasons and a few more.

Let's not lose sight of what really makes Heatherwood "special" and let's strive to keep it that way. Everyone doing their part will keep Heatherwood a "unique" place to live.

A FRIENDLY REMINDER...

If you have a pet who roams the neighborhood, please remember that the Harris County Leash Law is enforced within our subdivision.

Be a responsible pet owner and keep your dog or cat confined to your property or on a leash. Thanks for your help!

MAKING IMPROVEMENTS?

It seems that many residents are making improvements to their homes and property. It is great to see.

Please remember that any exterior improvement, whether it is painting, a portable building, an addition, a new fence, a swimming pool, etc., must receive prior approval from the Architectural Control Committee (ACC) before a project is started.

The ACC consists of the Board of Directors of Heatherwood. If you have any questions regarding an improvement, please contact:

READER BOARD INFORMATION

For a minimal charge of $5.00 you can spotlight a family member's birthday, anniversary or special achievement on the reader boards in our subdivision. For the Section 1 Reader Board, call Judy Cook @ 281-468-1655. For the Section 3 Reader Board, call Al Angaroni @ 281-251-1915.

RECIPE FOR REMOVAL OF EXTERIOR MOLD AND MILDEW

Mold and mildew may easily be removed from brick, wood exterior and garage doors with a product called Jomax sold at local hardware stores. You'll be surprised at the results. Everyone will think you gave your home a new paint job. Add this to your list of home improvement projects.

HEATHERWOOD HURRICANE SWIM TEAM

The Heatherwood Hurricane Swim Team now has its own Web site for news, photos, schedules and other information. If you need further information, contact Emily Elkins (President) at 281-379-5926. (See also the Heatherwood Hurricane page featured on this site.)
