REPUBLIC WASTE SERVICES OF TEXAS
GARBAGE COLLECTION INFORMATION

Dear Heatherwood Village Customer,

Please note that effective October 1, 2003, solid waste disposal services for Heatherwood Village will be provided by Republic Waste Services, through a new agreement with the Heatherwood Village Community Association. You will be receiving an invoice soon from Republic Waste for three months' billing (October through December 2003). Do not pay any billing you may receive from your previous service provider for services of October 2003 forward.

Please note that your service days are:
TUESDAY AND FRIDAY

As a friendly reminder, your yard waste should be placed at the curbside within five (5) feet of the paved roadway, by 7:00 AM, and your household waste should also be placed at the curbside in a waste container not exceeding 35 gallons or in a plastic trash bag. All branches and tree limbs up to four inches (4") in diameter must be cut to four-foot (4') lengths and tied in small bundles that can be lifted and handled by a single person. Bundles should be no larger than eighteen inches (18") in diameter and weigh no more than fifty pounds (50#).

In the event that one of the collection days falls on a holiday, we will collect your waste on the next regularly scheduled collection day (excluding Sunday). Scheduled holidays will include: Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Labor Day. In the event of an "Act of God", we will collect your waste on the following scheduled collection day.

Republic Waste will collect and dispose of all your residential refuse unless restricted by law or if the item would cause damage to the collection equipment. Listed are some items that are restricted: construction debris, cross ties, tires, solvents, paint, petroleum products, pool chemicals, fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, hazardous materials/chemicals, logs or stumps, car batteries, soil, rocks, concrete, medical waste, medical sharps and closed containers.

Refrigeration Units: Refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers or items that contain CFC's (freon), by law, must have the gas removed by a licensed technician and be red-tagged prior to collection.

Heavy Trash: Appliances, hot water heaters, mattresses, heavy or large volumes of yard waste and other white goods, appropriate for disposal shall be placed within five feet of the curbside and will be collected on the second collection day of each week.

If you should have any questions concerning service, please contact your Customer Service Representative at 281-446-2030.

CURBSIDE RECYCLING GUIDELINES

Pursuant to the new agreement between Republic Waste Services and the Heatherwood Village Community Association, curbside recycling will be included in your community's solid waste management services. Each residence will be provided with an eighteen-gallon plastic recycling bin. Recyclable items may be commingled in the bin, and sorting will be done at the truck and the recycling center. Your weekly recycling day will be FRIDAY. Please set your bin within five feet of your curb by 7:00 AM to assure service.

RECYCLABLE MATERIALS

NEWSPAPER: Includes the newspaper itself and any glossy inserts that are included with your Sunday paper. Please do not include other types of paper. Papers should not be tied or strapped together. If the newspaper volume is such that the bin does not provide ample space, you may place the newspaper in a brown paper bag and set it next to your bin. Wet newspaper is not acceptable.

PLASTIC: Plastic bottles and jugs that are marked with a No. 1 or No. 2 recycling logo. This includes milk and water jugs, soda bottles, etc. Please remove caps and rinse the containers. There is no need to remove labels.

ALUMINUM BEVERAGE CANS: Please rinse empty cans. Crushing the cans will provide additional space for other materials in your recycling bin.

BI-METAL CANS: This includes your food (tin) cans. Please rinse empty cans. There is no need to remove labels.

Glass will not currently be included in your curbside recycling program, due to the current local recycling market. Should the market change and make the recycling of glass feasible again, you will be notified accordingly.

Should you have any questions or comments, please call us at 281-446-2030. We look forward to being your service provider.
